Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public talker. Feminist Frequency is a website where you can find videos and other commentary analysing portrayals women in the media and in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer who has won awards in her field, is a feminist blogger. She is the founder as well as the executive director for Feminist Frequency an educational not-for-profit website that explores representations of women in popular cultural narratives. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes associated with women in popular culture, she works to raise issues related to harassment targeted at women, as well as the marginalized groups of online area. With a master's in social and political thought from York University Sarkeesian is also popular as a public talker. She has also delivered speech at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival as well as at the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Attracted to issues related to gender, feminism and identity from her early years, she founded her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 when she was studying at the University. It was the time to release a set of videos on the web that looked at gender representations in video games after she was the subject of harassment online.
