The singer was in nightclubs when she was teens, sneaking out of her home to perform. Kari was first introduced to acting in Wooster School at the age of thirteen, and went further to pursue a degree in drama at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia University Marymount Manhattan College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art under the famous Uta Hagen. Kari began performing as a teenager, and her first television appearance in the 1987's MTV Remote Control.
