
Kelly Clarkson became the personification of the American Dream when she won the first season on American Idol. The idea was that anyone could come from any place and then suddenly be an international star. She also created something tangible that American viewers could cling to and most importantly to buy. Her success was enormous with her first album. When she changed to a different record label and having greater control over the sound of the voice of her, her second album was the highest-selling American Idol album. She has won numerous awards, including several Top Ten hits, two multi-Platinum album releases, as well as an appearance as a coach on several singing shows. She received the prestigious four American Music Awards as well with twelve Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and two Grammy Awards. To date, she has garnered 98 major music award nominations, winning seventy of them.
